Nostalgia value only.

Only has some of the books, skipping many of my favorites. Tom Swift stories are not surviving the advances in science and world view very well, sometimes making me cringe. Don't look for literature here.

A wonderful window into the early 20th century

I came across this collection when I was looking for the Tom Swift Jr. books that I discovered in late grade school - early high school days. The Tom Swift Jr. books, years ago, were fascinating and absorbing, at least to my then-uncritical reading. This older collection is set in the early days of automobiles and airplanes and electricity - my father's childhood, in fact. The culture and feel of the era comes out in simple and clear writing, and the "science" is part of the setting rather than the purpose of the story. Some flaws and weaknesses are there, of course; this is the true "pulp fiction" (i.e. inexpensive printing on newsprint) of bygone days.

Low quality "shovelware" ebook

While I would love to have all the Tom Swift books in one collection, I can not suggest this version at all. The problem is that no love was put into making this Kindle edition. Instead, somebody just took all the files, dumped them into another file, then posted it to Amazon.
There are no chapter marks, everything runs together, and in places it is not even formatted correctly.
Folks, spend the few weeks it would take to make a decent Kindle file if you are going to do something like this. It ain't that hard.
